The wife of the Executive Governor of Kogi  State,  Hajia  Zainab  Ibrahim Idris came on board as the First Lady of the State with her personality encapsulated in her meek nature, her God fearing stand and love disposition.

It is worthy of note that the role of wives of administrators and the two times Governor of the State before the ascension of this administration was in obscurity except of course, that of Mrs Laruba Afakirya whose footsteps are not only seen but equally felt even today. Hajia Zainab came with a determination to excel.

The journey commenced with the visit of wife of Governors to the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs) Stella Obasanjo who advised and encouraged the spouses of Governors to stand firmly, strongly and reliably behind their husbands. On return home (Kogi), the ebullient and strong willed wife of Governor Ibrahim Idris came up with her pet project christened.

 

Family Advancement Programme (FAP). This as a non-governmental organization came with the bright idea of liberating the family from the shackles of deprivation, oppression, intimidation and systematic alienation of women from the socio-political and economic sphere of livelihood.

The achievements of Hajia Zainab Idris within two years include;

• Introduction of Her pet project THE FAMILY ADVANCEMENT PROGRAMME (FAP) to the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Chief Mrs. Stella Obasanjo in less than four months in office.

•    Mass de-worming of children across the three Senatorial District of the State with drugs worth over two million naira.

•    HIV/Aids eradication awareness campaign in secondary/tertiary institutions across the state.

•   Visits/distribution of relief materials to orphanage homes and schools for

      in Dekina Local Government Area of the State and to the Ekundayo Motherless Babies home Isanlu in Yagba East Local Government Area in the Western Senatorial District of the State.

•    Sponsoring of over 200 patients to the NOMA Children's Hospital, Sokoto.

•    Distribution of fertilizer to Women in agriculture across the state.

•    Distribution of micro-credit loan scheme to women in the three Senatorial Districts of the State.

•    Distribution of fish fund loans to fish farmers (25) across the state.

•   Distribution of Wheel Chairs (15)/ cash to the handicapped and the disabled in the state.

•   Payment of bills of Kogi State fire victims at the National Hospital, Abuja.

•    Distribution of food and cash to over two hundred patients at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.

•    Distribution of food, clothing and cash to beggars and blind people in Lokoja metropolis.

•   Organization of the first ever children's carnival that cuts across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State. It's now a yearly event.

•    Polio eradication campaign across the state.

•    Establishment of Health Clubs in Primary School across the state.

•    Distribution of medicated eye glasses, gifts to children, free medical service (medical team from USA), food items to widows
