INTRODUCTION

            Since assumption of Office as Governor of Kogi State on 29^th May, 2003, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris the Executive Governor of Kogi State has taken steps to reposition the State by providing the needed dividends of democracy to the people of the State in all nooks and crannies and restore the hope of a better standard of living.

            While providing the necessary infrastructure across the State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has continued to positively touch the lives of the State Civil Servants and pensioners and provide the enabling environment for the rural populace to practice their trade and vocation.

            The State has witnessed monumental development leaving no one in doubt that he has fulfilled his pledge to the people that their happiness is his goal and that once he does their wishes, and the majority of the people are happy, he will go more steeps regardless of what his detractors may be saying.  When His Excellency assumed the mantle of leadership, the debt profile of the State was 57.4 billion Naira consisting of domestic debts aggregating N14.4 billion and foreign debt stood at N43 billion.  Civil Servants were owed several months of unpaid salaries and allowances, pensioners had given up hope of being paid their entitlements, social infrastructure had collapsed, pupils in primary schools were receiving lectures under trees, hospitals were mere consulting outlets without drugs.  The Kogi State University lacked basic amenities for it to operate effectively, water was an essential commodity lacking in most homes, the people of the State became restive and gloomy and looked forward to the grace of God for a leader that will have the milk of kindness to pilot the affairs of the State to glory.

            The generality of the people of the State knew what they wanted and had no difficulties electing Alhaji Ibrahim Idris as Governor and brought to an end an elitist administration that had plunged the State into heavy debt burden thereby bringing pain and suffering to the people.  Once again the people’s hope for a better future was kindled with the swearing-in of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris as Executive Governor of  Kogi State on 29^th May, 2006.

            Alhaji Ibrahim Idris since assumption of office has given power to the people of the State he has demonstrated that he has come to serve the people and not to swindle and intimidate them.  This brochure speaks for itself as the Governor has led the people to the promised land by touching their lives in various ways as revealed in the brochure.
